Glasshouse Extensions vs Conservatories

Understanding the difference to choose the right solution

Clear explanations to help you decide which option suits your home and lifestyle.

A conservatory is typically a lighter structure with a higher proportion of glazing. A glasshouse extension is designed to feel more like a true extension, with a stronger structure, insulated base, plastered interior walls, and a more permanent, room-like finish.

The right choice depends on how you want to use the space. Conservatories are ideal for bright, flexible living areas, while glasshouse extensions are better suited for year-round use as a seamless extension of your home.

Yes. Glasshouse extensions are designed to blend with your existing property, creating a space that feels integrated rather than separate.

What’s Included as Standard

Clear, honest information on what you get

A clear breakdown of what’s included, so you know exactly what to expect.

All our buildings are fully fitted and include a fully insulated galvanised steel base. Frames are A-rated and available in a choice of colours. All glass units are toughened Planitherm Total Plus with warm edge spacer bars and argon-filled for improved thermal efficiency. Rooms are fully plastered, including the house wall where applicable.

Glasshouse roofs are built using Eurocell roofing systems, with 32mm seven-walled Heatguard polycarbonate as standard, providing strength and insulation.

Yes. You can choose full-height glass, panels below the glass, or full side panels depending on your design preferences and privacy requirements.

Electrics, Finishing & Responsibilities

Understanding what we do and what comes next

An explanation of what we take care of and what you’ll complete after the build.

First fix electrics are included in glasshouse extensions only. We run all wiring ready for your electrician to connect internal sockets, lighting, and mains power. External lights are fitted as part of the build. First fix electrics are not included in conservatories.

First fix electrics involve installing all cabling within the structure before final finishes. This allows your electrician to complete the final connections, fit sockets, and install lighting once the build is complete.

No. We complete a fully fitted, finish-ready shell. This includes structural work, plastering, and floorboarding, but does not include painting, wallpapering, flooring finishes, or furnishings.

Customisation & Optional Extras

Tailoring your build to suit your home

Options and upgrades to personalise your space and finish it your way.

All builds are bespoke. You can customise layout, glazing style, panel options, and external finishes to suit your home.

Yes. White, Anthracite Grey, Black, Oak and Rosewood, and some other external colours are available at an additional cost. External and internal colour options are also available as an upgrade.

Optional extras include ambient blue glass roof lanterns, flat glass roof lanterns, bifold doors, and slide-aside doors. These can be discussed during your consultation.
